Steve & Ed's Hot Dog Chili Sauce with Onion

This was alright, but I don't totally like the mushy texture of the beans. It's very mildly spiced and could use some doctoring up next time. It's cheap enough that I might buy it sometimes, especially since some supermarkets choices are limited, but I don't think it's something I'd crave.

The ingredients on this are identical to Steve & Ed's Hot Dog Chili Sauce (with the addition of onions) close to the Great Value Hot Dog Chili Sauce. The Great Value doesn't list mustard as an ingredient.

Sadly, the link I had to purchase this online no longer works. Hopefully I'll find another one some day.

Ingredients: water, crushed beans, tomatoes, beef fat, mustard and mustard bran (water, vinegar, mustard seed, mustard bran, salt, tumeric), less than 2%: dehydrated onion, salt, soy protein concentrate, brown sugar, monosodium glutamate, flavorings, caramel color.

Great Value Hot Dog Chili Sauce

This has a better flavor than Steve & Ed's Hot Dog Chili Sauce with Onions and I like it about the same as Castleberry's Hot Dog Chili Sauce. I believe it's the addition of chili powder that does it, but I think I taste more onion. Might be more salty also, but I haven't compared the back of the labels.

The ingredients on this are nearly identical to Steve & Ed's Hot Dog Chili Sauce with Onions and Castleberry's Hot Dog Chili Sauce. The texture is similar as well. Crushed up beans are to thank for that.

Ingredients: water, tomato concentrate (water, tomato paste), prepared dry beans, contains less than 2% of: wheat flour, beef fat, chili powder (chili pepper, spices, salt, natural flavor, garlic powder), textured soy flour, dehydrated onions, salt, modified cornstarch, monosodium glutamate, caramel color.

Some closeout store was selling tiny jars of this. They were smaller than 12 oz I believe for like $1 and some odd change each. The dates were all good and far enough into the future that I'd be able to use them all so I bought a bunch. Maybe 15 jars or so.

It's been awhile since I tried it, but all I do remember is it's totally disgusting. I didn't like the taste or the texture. I gave the other ones to a friend and he had a similar comment. Neither of us could get through a bite or two of this stuff. I did give it a chance by taking a second or third bite, but I think I spit it out and almost threw up.

Ingredients: water, texas brand seasoning (plain bread crumbs [enriched flour (containing wheat flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamine monitrate, riboflavin, and folic acid), corn syrup, sugar, vegetable shortening (one or more of the following: partially hydrogenated soybean oil and/or cottonseed oil), yeast, contains 2% or less of the following: salt, soy flour, whey, sodiumbistearoyl, 2 lactylate (dough conditioner), calcium propionate (preservative), sesame seeds], dehydrated onion, spices, modified food starch, salt), ground beef, citric acid, sodium benzoate and possassium sorbate as preservatives.

These idiots don't know how to spell, or the fine print is so small they can't see the errors. I assume they mean "thiamine mononitrate" and "potassium sorbate" above. There might be more wrong spellings, I just don't have the time to go through it with a magnifying glass.
